JOSHUA’S PREPARATION
1. SUFFERING
—Exodus 3:7-9... 7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.
—Unfortunately God’s pattern for life is that suffering must come before glory.
—God does not want to destroy you but build you and use you to help others.
2. SUBMISSION
—During the first half of his life, he obeyed Moses; and during the last half, he received orders from God.
3. DELAY
—It’s through faith and patience that we inherit what God has promised.
—Hebrews 6:12... We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

1. HE WALKED WITH GOD
—Joshua 24:29... After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten.
2. HE HAD COURAGE
—Joshua was told four times at the beginning of his ministry to “be courageous.” (Joshua 1:6-7,9,18)
3. HE HAD A PLAN AND FOLLOWED IT
—The conquest of Canaan was not a haphazard affair.
4. HE DIDN’T QUIT
—The American humorist Elbert Hubbard said, “Experience is the name everyone gives to his mistakes."
—Someone has said that experience is a tough teacher because it always gives the exam first, and teaches the lesson afterward.
5. HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE
—Joshua 24:15c... 15c But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
—Joshua knew no man can issue a challenge until he himself has made the decision clear.
—Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)... Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
6. HE GLORIFIED GOD
—He learned that the most important thing was the glory of the Lord.
—All through the book of Joshua you find him giving God the glory for the magnificent things He did.
—Who are you glorifying in and with your life?
