Satan has always been a counterfeiter of spiritual realities. In Revelation 13, the second “beast” John sees is known in Scripture as the “false prophet.” He will be the Antichrist’s counterpart, and while the Antichrist unites the world politically, the false prophet will unite the world religiously.
Who is the second “beast” John sees, and what will he do?
The second beast is called the false prophet (Revelation 16:13, 19:20, 20:10), and he will unite the world religions. He will be instrumental in uniting the world religions into one universal “church” during the seven-year tribulation.
As the Holy Spirit directs all worship to Christ, the false prophet will direct all worship to the “image” of the Antichrist. In Satan’s unholy “trinity,” the false prophet is the counterpart to the Holy Spirit whose purpose is to glorify Christ (Matthew 15:14)
From the dawn of time, Satan has desperately desired to be worshiped as God.
In the tribulation, Satan will have what he’s always wanted — he will sit on the throne of God, be worshiped as God, and reign over an earthly kingdom instead of God. His kingdom will last for a very short season — only 3 ½ years until the true King returns.
To establish his own earthly kingdom, Satan must first unite the nations into a one world global system. This has long been a dream of many social reformers. Some call it a “global community,” others call it a “new world order.” The New Age movement calls it the “Age of Aquarius.”
Besides the stated goal of the United Nations, globalism is the goal of some of the most powerful people on the planet. Examples include The Club of Rome Conference featuring the elite leaders of the world. This is the stated goal of the Humanist Manifesto signed in 2000 by many of the world’s most powerful leaders. The Council on Foreign Relations is one of the most influential organizations of the last 100 years and has consistently called for a one-world government. The world platform is being prepared to one day unite the globe!
How will the Antichrist and false prophet work together to usher in Satan’s kingdom?
The Antichrist will unite the world politically, while the false prophet will unite the world religiously. While the Antichrist will unite the globe into a one world government, the false prophet will unite the globe into a one world religion.
We are witnessing a movement to unify the world’s religions even within the “Church.”
1) “Ecumenical” movement globally. The Ecumenical movement seeks to unite all the world religions together because of the belief that all religions are equal and all lead to God. But of course they do not! (John 14:6)

2) Liberal theology within Christianity. This theology teaches the Bible can’t be taken seriously and is not God’s absolute truth morally or spiritually. It denies foundational and non-negotiable tenets of the Christians faith.
The falling away prophesied by the Apostle Paul is already taking place! 80% of America’s “churches” and “Christian” denominations have rejected the Bible as being authoritative on matters morally, spiritually, and doctrinally — they have fallen away from the faith!
To God, the “church” in the tribulation will be an abomination because of her spiritual prostitution.
Revelation 17:3-5, “So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
In the tribulation, many will follow the Lord Jesus and refuse to be a part of this “one world religion.” They will be martyred for their faith because they will refuse to bow the knee in worship to the Antichrist.
