The hallmark of well-entrenched greed...is a willingness to use people to serve our love for money, rather than the use of money to serve our love for people. - Rebecca DeYoung, Glittering Vices
>> What we’re looking for is already offered to us.
>> Give it away before we have nothing left.

I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare. In other words, if our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusement, etc., is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little. If our giving does not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say it is too small. There ought to be things we should like to do and cannot because our commitment to giving excludes them.

Perhaps the best advice...is the oldest: tithe.

Title: Greed and Generosity
ICEBREAKER: If you were given $100, what would you do with it?
ENGAGING SCRIPTURE: Read 1 Timothy 6:6-10. Why does Paul warn his readers to be on guard against greed? What dangers does he identify? ASSESSING VALUES: Why does money feel so safe and satisfying? What hope does having money give you?
LOOKING INWARD: Imagine that a group of people had access to all of your financial records and spending habits (savings, checking, cash, etc.). What would they infer about your values, loves, preferences, and beliefs? IDENTIFYING ROADBLOCKS: What makes generosity difficult for you?
MOVING FORWARD: How can you grow in practicing generosity?
