Recognizing and Responding to a Swap in your Life and Family
While the big story in 1 Kings 3 is about God demonstrating His answer to Solomon's prayer for wisdom, demonstrating His presence is with Solomon as king, and demonstrating His plan for His people, God also highlights how He connects our story, in the case of the two women, into His story.
While historical and didactic, the Old Testament is also a type of shadow of New Testament principles. Here the King represents government and God.
Romans 1 describes the swap that has occurred when people suppress the truth of God. Genesis 3 reveals that Satan has been influencing and deceiving people into a swap from the beginning.
Sunday #turningpoint: Like real mother recognized the dead baby wasn't hers after careful examination, believers should also recognize attitudes, beliefs and actions are not Godly after careful examination.
Sunday #turningpoint: Like the real mother gained a proficiency in recognizing her real son in 3 days, believers too should gain proficiency in recognizing truth to see aberrations.
Sunday #turningpoint: Like the bereaved mother suppressed the truth about her son and propagated a lie to claim hold of the other mother's son, so too people suppress the truth about God and their relation to Him in order to claim freedom from accountability to God.
Sunday #turningpoint: Like the real mother, when you recognize a swap, go to God in prayer and His word for guiding principles.
Sunday #turningpoint: Like in this situation, God's methods expose truth, hearts and justice; so let His plan unfold.
