What we have learned through our overview of Genesis is this.
God has created us in His image and blessed us and gave us authority over all the earth to rule in His place. Humans have been given everything we could ever imagine, but its never enough. We continually walk away from God's best for our lives thinking we can do it better and only mess it up.

No matter how we mess things up, God is still faithfully working out His plan of redemption.
This week we will look at the life of Moses and the promise God made to him and His people.

Story of Moses constitutes for 1/7th of the Bible. Moses story begins in Exodus 2 and runs all the way through to Deuteronomy 34.

Since the death of Joseph to the birth of Moses, there is a span of 400 years. The Israelites felt forgotten and oppressed. God's power shows up in all sorts of ways throughout the life of Moses, especially in his birth.

God's plan will prevail no matter what. As we saw at the end of Genesis through the life of Joseph (Genesis 50:20)

In Exodus, Moses is one of the main characters and we learn a lot about God through the life of Moses.
LESSON LEARNED:

We are not limited by our labels. God's power is limitless.
hey
What we see here is the theme once again of how sin messes things up. Moses runs, tries to bury what he has done. Another "fig leaf" moment.
- Adam & Eve hide and tried to cover up
- Jacob lied and stole the birthright
- Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery
We often find ourselves in these shoes, thinking our sin defines us.
LESSON LEARNED:

Our sin/failures do not define us, but God will use them to refine us.

We see failure, He sees potential.
Moses life in 3 stages:

Stage 1 - 40 years spent in Egypt

Stage 2 - 40 years spent in desert/Midian

Stage 3 - 40 years spent leading the people of Israel through the wilderness
hey
God uses the desert Moses walks through to build him up and humble him. In turn, Moses is able to lead the people of Israel through the same desert.

What desert have you been through? What addiction, hang up, sin have you overcome? God may in turn use you to set someone else free.
As D.L Moody said – “Moses spent forty years thinking he was somebody, forty years learning he was nobody and forty years discovering what God can do with a nobody!”
LESSON LEARNED:

When we learn to let God’s words be our worth, our lives and our potential can truly be limitless.

Moses didn't let the grumbling of the people or the "no" of Pharaoh to throw him off. He knew God's words would come to pass.

Moses wasn’t numb to negative emotions. He had emotional reactions just like the rest of us. But it’s how he handled those messages that made his life so extraordinary.

He would go straight to God and listen to what God said about Him.
Quick outline of Exodus:
1. God hears His people (Exodus 1–6)
2. God saves His people from Egypt (Exodus 7–18)
3. God gives His law to Israel (Exodus 19–34)
4. Israel builds a tabernacle, and God dwells among His people (Exodus 35–40)
