The Spirit's Sanctifying Power - (Formerly) Dead Men Walking
1. We must acknowledge POSITIONAL sanctification - we are sanctified IMMEDIATELY upon placing our faith in Christ.
Jesus died FOR sin so that we might die TO sin. We're saved FOR sanctification!
2. We must recognize that our sanctification is PROGRESSIVE - it happens GRADUALLY over time.
We don't just START with the Spirit; we CONTINUE in the Spirit.
While we RECEIVE our positional sanctification, we actively CONTRIBUTE to our progressive sanctification.
A key to progress in holiness is being FILLED with the Spirit ... which enables our WALKING in the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit is essential for our COMBAT and to our CULTIVATION. Filling leads to walking; walking leads to fruit bearing.
