Psalms 133:1-3

SERMON: “Dancing with the Devil” - Psalm 133

“Disunity is result of dancing to the devil’s tune and the question we must ask is ‘how can we change that song?’”

1. Reviewing the Perfection of Unity

2. Recognizing the Loss of Unity

3. Working Towards Restoring Unity

“Division is the devil’s song and unity is the Lord’s: Whose tune shall we dance to?”

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. Describe an experience in your own life where disunity and division ruled the day. How did you feel in this situation or season? How was it eventually overcome?
2. Is unity important to God? Review the following Scriptures and describe how unity is portrayed in them and the subsequent implications this present to us. Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 133:1; Matthew 23:8; John 10:16, 17:20-23; Ephesians 2:11-19, 5:31-32.
3. What is the root of all disunity? Many make it oppression, the color of one’s skin, or one’s class or social standing. Is this accurate, or is there a deeper, underlying cause?
4. What is your response to this statement: “Any man/woman can hate, only God’s man/woman can love.” Why is hating and division easy, but love so difficult?
5. How can we (the Church) be an agent for restoring unity? What are practical steps we must take in order to do so? What are ways in which you are currently doing so and how can we be more effective in this endeavor?
