Quote:

"Prayer is the slender nerve that moves the muscles of omnipotence."
Main Point:

Praying like Jesus

#1 Starts with a confident connection.
Quote:

There were appropriate forms of address that were used by Jewish people in the Old Testament… and the term Father was not among them. The first Jewish rabbi to call God "Father" directly was Jesus… It was a radical departure from tradition, and in fact, in every recorded prayer we have from the lips of Jesus save one, he calls God "Father."… R.C Sproul.
Sub Point:

“Father” emphasizes relationship.
Sub Point:

“Father” establishes privilege.
Sub Point:

A son’s or daughter’s genetic connection should affect their approach in prayer.
Question:

Am I entering into prayer with proper authority?
Main Point:

Praying like Jesus…

#2 Includes an outward agenda.
Definition:

Your Will - θέλημα, (thel'-ay-mah)an act of will, desire, wishes.
Sub Point:

A healthy approach to prayer includes a sensitivity toward God.
Question:

Does my prayer time represent God’s wish list?

You can give online, through our SecureGive App, in the offering boxes, and at the Giving Center Kiosk in the Atrium.

We don't pass a plate for tithes and offerings here at Vineyard, but we do believe that giving back to Jesus through our finances is an important act of our worship.
