First Assembly of God

There is an area I believe the Lord would have us focus upon and not just for a few short days. This is something we must dig deeper in order to move forward in God and see the breakthroughs we have been praying and dreaming about occur.

I have discovered in my life the thing that intensifies my prayer life, the thing that brings new focus and power is something we often neglect. The thing that leads us into the realm of breakthrough into much blessing and victory is fasting.

Jesus tells his disciples that there are two reasons why they have no power – (their unbelief and the need to seek god in prayer and fasting) fasting puts an edge on your prayer – it builds up your faith as we deny our flesh and seek his face. Fasting coupled with prayer will bring the breakthrough we have needed and are seeking god for.

When the bridegroom is taken away you will fast; not should but will. In order to see the breakthrough, to manifest the power of God, fasting is needed.

The very simple and direct conclusions I draw are these:
First, if the Bible teaches us to do something, I want to do it. I want to obey the Lord in every way that he commands me to obey him. And

Second, if fasting and praying are means to a breakthrough that God has for me, I want to undertake those disciplines so I might experience that breakthrough!

Abstaining from food is often God's way of showing that his desire for us is that we regain mastery over all things associated with our flesh in order to subdue our flesh and elevate our emphasis on spiritual matters.

So Daniel was desperate. He needed a breakthrough. For 21 days he fasted and sought the Lord waiting for an answer. (And we get upset if we don’t have god’s word for us in 21 minutes or less.) He set aside everything pleasurable and now after 21 days he has denied his flesh and God grants him great favor. He has entered into a partnership with God by fasting and he gains God’s favor.

There Is An Unseen World; There Are Spiritual Wars That Are Taking Place We Don’t See. Do you know sometimes persistent prayer is needed? Don’t quit believing; don’t stop saying thank you for the answer that is coming. That's faith talk. Because we don’t always see what is going on behind the scenes so to speak. The breakthrough we want is coming but sometimes it might take awhile to get here. But thank God we have something Daniel did not have, we have JESUS and His Spirit that is within us.

I praise God for where this church and you as his church have come in the Spirit but we need more. We need to see healing miracles as the norm around here not just from time to time, we need to see our families saved, we need to see this city visited by the Spirit of God, we need to see Spero Rd developed and a great church facility out there, we need a real revival, we need a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit and favor upon each of us, to take our worship higher, to take His church higher, to plug into the power of God that will not cease. To see his breakthrough.

I would like each person in this Body to set aside 1 day at least per week to seek the Lord in fasting and prayer. It can be an absolute fast, a partial fast, 1 meal or 2 or one whole day per week of more as you see fit. I will be fasting on Wednesdays, join me for the day or part of it, let us see God's Breakthrough for us and with us! Amen!
