The phrase “nailed it” means that you got something exactly right or did something perfectly. That’s exactly what Jesus did for us on the cross, He nailed it. But what did He nail to the cross? How does what He did on the cross change my life today?
For the next few weeks, I’ll be unpacking some of the things Jesus nailed to the cross. I know, you’ve heard that Jesus nailed our sin to the cross but that’s a difficult concept for most of us to grasp. How does that truth show up in our daily lives?
Our subject today deals with a monster that lurks inside all of us. Left unchecked, this monster has the potential to destroy your marriage, dissolve your company, ostracize your children and even draw nations into war.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? That’s right, PRIDE.
Good Pride: The kind that is proud of your kids or your family. I’m not talking about when you say, “I’m so proud of my team or my company.” That’s the good kind of pride.

Bad Pride: “I want what I want, when I want it and how I want it.”
The cross is all about Jesus restoring our relationship to God. That’s what reconciliation is.
It’s impossible to completely restore relationships when pride is present. Pride is like a personal prison; it shuts us in and keeps God and others out.

That’s why Jesus nailed PRIDE to the cross. He wanted to make sure that you and I could be set free from the prison that kept us isolated from an authentic relationship with God and with others.
Pride keeps you and me in prison. It locks us in and locks God out.

Pride is an ugly thing. It is a hungry monster that demand to be fed. It has an insatiable appetite for all things me, myself and I.
Why is pride so deadly?

1. It can cause us to procrastinate doing what’s best for yourself and others.

2. It makes you feel like you always have to win.
Phil. 2:3-4 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

The problem with Pride is that you can see it in other people instantly but it’s almost impossible to see it in the mirror.

3. It makes it difficult for us to remain teachable
So, how do we deal with the MONSTER inside of us?
The only way to overcome pride is by choosing humility. Humility is the nail that holds pride to the cross.

C.S. Lewis said, “True Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.
This is the thing that blows my mind about Easter.
· Jesus didn’t wait for us to come to Him, He came to us.
· He took the first step toward us.
· He initiated our reconciliation by taking on the nature of a servant.
Jesus nailed it! He nailed pride to the cross so we could be free. He had to destroy prides power to control us because pride never initiates relational restoration, it destroys it.

1. Where do you struggle with pride?
2. How are you going to nail your pride this week?
Pride always works to makes sure that reconciliation never happens in our relationship with God and with others, that’s why Jesus “NAILED IT.”
