2. It is a predicted mystery

a. Jesus had announced it many times

Mathew 16:21; 17:22-23

Mark 8:31; 9:31

Luke 9:22; 18:31-33

John 10:17-18

b. Jesus had the ability to raise Himself from the dead:
John 10:17-18

c. Jesus' accusers proved they believed He would raise from
the dead: Matthew 27:62-64

3. It is a practical mystery

a. It was meant to contradict deceit – Matthew 28:11-15

b. It was meant to convince the disciples and the world
because the only logical conclusion was that when Jesus
resurrected, He supernaturally passed right through the
linen cloth wrappings without disturbing them!!

4. It is a persuasive mystery

a. Let's examine the critically important John 20:7 in several
translations:

King James Version: "and the napkin that was about his head..." (also American Standard version and Revised Standard version)

New International Version: "burial cloth"

New King James Version: "handkerchief"

New American Standard Bible: "face cloth"

Amplified Bible: "burial face cloth"

b. The Greek word is "saudarion" which meaning "a towel for
wiping sweat" not a table napkin or handkerchief.

c. The other key word is "folded." Was the burial face cloth
left folded in the tomb?

New International Version and New King James Version translate it "folded."

King James Version: "wrapped together"

Revised Standard Version, New American Standard Bible, and Amplified Version translate it "rolled up."

d. The Greek word is "entullisso" meaning to "twist" or
"entwine" (to curl or twist one thing around another-
McMillan Dictionary)

e. The fact is that the burial face cloth was not left flat but the
outline of Jesus' head remained on the burial face cloth
because Jesus supernaturally passed right through it!!

5. It is a powerful mystery

There are reasons why the Resurrection of Jesus is critical to us all:

a. Death is the result of sin: "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23a) also Romans 5:12 NLT "When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned."

b. If Jesus had stayed dead, than death would have been superior to Him and therefore, Jesus could not forgive sin.

c. But when Jesus resurrected from the dead, He
demonstrated He was greater than death and greater than
the cause of death; sin. Therefore, Jesus being greater than
sin & death can both forgive us of our sin and raise us up
from the dead to live in Heaven!!

d. Only those who belong to Christ, not just believe in Christ
will go to Heaven with Him: 1Corinthians 15:22 NLT
"Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam,
everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life."

6. It is a personal mystery

a. 2 Corinthians 5:15 "And He died for all, that those who live
should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died
for them and rose again."

b. Are you living for Him and not just for yourselves and your
family?

John 11:26 "And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die."

c. Resurrection Sunday is not about Easter bunnies & Easter
eggs but about a Risen Savior who wants to control your
life: Is Jesus in control of your life? Have you repented of
your sins to Jesus and asked Him to be your Lord and
Savior?
