Winning Spiritual Warfare
What Is Spiritual Warfare?
Ephesians 6:12

Ephesians 6:12, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Spiritual warfare is that conflict being waged in the invisible, spiritual realm that is being manifest in the visible, physical realm.

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:12).

TWO WORLDVIEWS
Natural/Material/Scientific
Spiritual

Your worldview is simply the lens through which you perceive reality.

It is possible to have a spiritual worldview that is plugged into the wrong spirit.

Four areas of life this battle affects:

1. This Battle affects your Personal Life

Our emotions can give the devil an entry into our lives.

“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be anger, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity” (Eph. 4:25-27)

Failing to control anger grants the devil an opportunity to get a foothold in your life.

If Satan can seize our emotions, he can destroy our ability to function by crippling us emotionally or leading us into all manner of destructive and addictive behavior.

2. This Battle Affects Your Family

1 Cor. 7:5, “Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time that you may devote yourself to prayer, and come together again lest Satan tempt you because of your lack of self-control.”

3. This Battle Affects Life

Watch out for “doctrines of demons” that will infiltrate the church (1 Tim. 4:1).

4. This Battle Affects Culture

Our ability to deal with the spiritual realm will determine whether we win or lose in the physical realm.

Satan’s job is to get us to ignore the spiritual realm or give it low value. If he can divert us from the spiritual realm, he can divert us from finding spiritual solutions.

2 Corinthians 12:2 (NKJV)
2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven.

Three levels of existence of heaven:

The first heaven is the atmosphere that surrounds the earth, the environment in which we live.

The second heaven is what we commonly refer to as outer space, the heavens where the stars and planet exist.

The third heaven is the throne room of God, the place we normally think of when we hear the word heaven.

Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”

If you don’t know how to get to the heavenly places, you won’t know how to get to the heavenly help you need to win the battle in earthly places.

Ephesians 1:20, when God the Father raised Jesus Christ from the dead, He seated His Son “at His right hand in the heavenly places.”

Ephesians 2:6, that God also raised us up with [Christ], “and seated us with Him in the heavenly places”

Rev 12:7, “And there was war in the heavenly, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. And the dragon and his angels waged war.”

This battle is angelic.

This battle is for glory!

“My glory I will not give to another.” (Isa. 48:11)

The battle goes on every day in our personal, family, church, and community lives as to who will get the glory by what we do.

“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31)

What is Satan’s battle strategy in spiritual warfare?

“I am afraid, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds should be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” 2 Cor 11:3

Satan can disguise himself as an “angel of light” 2 Cor. 11:14

Our Warfare Is Spiritual
Exodus 17:8-13

Exodus 17:
8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

Spiritual battles can never be won on natural grounds.

Spiritual battles can never be won on physical grounds with physical weapons.

Spiritual battles must be fought with spiritual weapons.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Our battle (Our warfare is Spiritual).

2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

The blood for our sins and the stripes for our Sicknesses.

Prayer receives its intensity and power through the word of God.

To pray with power you must pray the word.

If you see that the enemy seems to be gaining ground in your life, the first thing you need to do is ask the questions:
#1 How’s my prayer life?
#2 How’s my Word life?

Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.

It is not what is written that defeats the devil in your life: It’s what is written that lives in your heart and fills your mouth that defeats the devil.

The sword of the spirit that defeats the devil is the word of God spoken with authority from a believing heart.

On praying ground everyone is equal.

It is through prayer that we put on and activate and hold in place every piece of the Christian armour.

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

There is no such thing as a victorious Christian Life without prayer: It is by and through prayer that we wage war. It is through prayer that we receive our provisions for the battle, and through prayer that we receive power for the battle.

All public victory owes its accomplishment to private prayer.

Your Christian Life can be easily diagnosed by your prayer life; your prayer life is the thermometer of your spiritual life.

The real battle is Spiritual and the greatest weapon in that battle is Prayer:

James 5:16
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

EFFECTUAL - full of power to achieve results.

FERVENT - "to be hot, to boil" speaks of "fervency" of spirit.

Exodus 17:12 But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
