Sermon Recap:
One of the most valued blessings of the Holy Spirit being within us is that he knows our hearts. From that vantage point, he is able to convey to God all that we experience. In our text today, Paul says that the Holy Spirit intercedes with us before God.
In a sense, the Holy Spirit is our interpreter. Because he is a part of God, he knows and participates in the will of God. So he is able to blend our needs with God’s will.

1. Read Romans 8:15-17. What does “Abba, Father” tell us about the nature of our relationship with God? How deeply do you experience this? What is the less desirable alternative?
2. Read Romans 8:26-30. It may be difficult to find words for this, but what does it mean to you personally to know that the Holy Spirit is doing this for you?
3. If the Holy Spirit is pleading for us, why do we need to pray?
4. Tim Keller wrote, “God will only give you what you would have asked for if you knew everything he knows.” Why do we still struggle with our will vs. God’s will?
5. How have you responded to a “no” from God? How does our lesson today help?
