1. How would you define the concept of “safe place”? In your own experience, where do you find a “safe place”? Why is the LORD alone the ultimate “safe place”?

2. Review Psalm 121 and consider the many ways the truths it depicts are also reflected in Psalm 31. What do you find the most comforting?
3. Review the following texts and compare them to the glorious truth declared by 31:5. Observe that the word “ransomed” in 31:5 is also used in the sense of “redeemed”, “reconciled”, and “ransomed” in these other texts. Deuteronomy 7:8, 9:26, 21:8; Job 5:20; Micah 6:4; Romans 5:10, 8:32. Again, what is the great comfort they provide to us?
4. Review some of the difficulties or challenges David outlined in Psalm 31. See verses 4, 11-13, 18, 20b. How are they similar to some you have faced or currently facing? Where does David turn to in time of trouble and despair? Where (or what) do you turn to?
5. What does it mean to say “My times are in Your hands?” How is that declaration both freeing and yet convicting?
