Being content

Realizing who it is that lives in me and what He makes me capable of

1Cor 12: 12-31

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[a] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[b]? Do all interpret? 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
Love Is Indispensable
And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

Phil 4:4-9

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Meeting with Jesus as to allow Him to be formed in me -

○ I can only be what i am - authentic, genuine, real
■ And i want that real me to be
● Like Jesus
● Really like Jesus
● Not me (just) trying to be like Jesus

○ I can only give (of) what i am or have
■ What i have is what they need
■ What i am and am becoming is what God wants me to be

○ It is not about being perfect, and that’s the point -
■ no one is looking for perfection,
■ only love, kindness and
■ Jesus and His grace working in and through the cracks
When Christ is seen - in the ways in which I am like Him and also when I fail to represent Him well - in and through my shortcomings - He is best seen in my weakness, in my honesty - as grace is displayed, be:

Merciful - to the condemned - Matt 5:7; 18:21-35; Luke 6:36; john 3:16-18; Romans 12:1; Gal 5:22; James 2:13; 3:17

5:7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

Luke 6:36

36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

john 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

Romans 12:1

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

2:13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.
Tolerant - of their sin. This never means condone their sin or join them in their sin, or not encourage them to leave their sin, it means do not condemn them for their sin-they are condemned already, they are acting like what they are - which is more than we can say about ourselves most of the time - they are acting integrous-ly with what and who they are - why would we want them to act any other way? They’re being honestly, them; true to themselves. Therefore, what they need to see are christians who are unapologetically real and honest with who and whose they are. Romans 2:3-4; Eph 4:2 Romans 2:3-4; Eph 4:2

3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

25: Through patience a ruler can be persuaded,

Contrite - ask forgiveness when you blow it and they see you blow it - let’s not pretend to be something we are not… · Psalm 51:1; Isa 57:15; Luke 4:18

Be prayerful - at no point can we do this without a constant connection to God by His Spirit. Jesus said “there I am also”, well, talk to Him - He wants this more than you do - join Him in it, talk to Him, listen carefully · - Psalm 95:6; Dan 2:14-23; 6:10; 9:1-19; Phil 4:6;1Thes 5:16-18

“Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster.Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. 14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.
15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.
17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”
