Proverbs 16:32 - Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

I. YOU MUST MANAGE YOUR MOUTH
Proverbs 13:3 - Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
James 3:6 - And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
James 3:8 - It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

James 3:8 - No human being can tame the tongue.
A. Speak Slowly
Proverbs 21:23 - He who guards his mouth and tongue guards his soul from troubles.
Proverbs 12:18 -There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
James 1:19 - Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
B. Speak Specifically
Proverbs 17:9 - He who repeats a matter separates intimate friends.
Principle: Keep the circle of knowledge only as large as the circle of need.
Principle: If they can’t be a part of the solution, then don’t make them a part of the problem.
Principle:
“If they can be a part of the solution, it doesn’t necessarily mean they SHOULD be.”
C. Speak Selectively
Proverbs 15:23 - A man has joy in an apt answer, and how delightful is a timely word.
Proverbs 25:11 - Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances.
Luke 6:45 - For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
II. MANAGE YOUR EMOTIONS

III. MANAGE YOUR MIND

Question: Is it possible to act contrary to what you believe"
Question: Can you change your behavior without changing your belief?
Romans 12:2. ...be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Step 1 Admitted we were powerless...our lives had become unmanageable
