Luke 4:18-19“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[a]
To proclaim liberty to the captivesAnd recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
When the LORD started speaking to me about this being our mission my thought was Lord we can’t deliver captives… Only you can do that. Then I believe the Holy Spirit pointed out to me it says “Preach deliverance to the captives or Proclaim liberty
Well ok then.
I believe God is wanting to reveal to us the deliverance that Jesus came to bring, so that we can walk in it and then preach it to others.
Preach deliverance – Proclaim – not just for those who preach behind a pulpit. As we understand the liberation JESUS came to bring… we will want to share it with others.
So many Christians are trying to preach out of their emptiness… instead of out of His fullness.
John 7:37-39 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing[g] in Him would receive; for the Holy[h] Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Our lives are to be full of His presence and power.
2 years ago one of the AtlantaDreamCenter students shared a vision with me.
He saw a stream that as rocks were removed it began to become a rushing river.
Often our lives are like that… we have things stopping the flow of the Spirit in our lives.
We allow things to stop the flow of His presence and power.
How?
We’re gonna look at 3 ways…
With unbelief…
Matthew 17:19-21Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief;[a] for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”[b]
Notice that Jesus said they couldn’t cast it out because of their unbelief. Unbelief stops us from doing many of the things God has called us to do.
Faith builds bridges over the impossible. Unbelief builds dams to the spiritual.
Talking about Nazareth …Matthew 13:58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
JESUS said he couldn’t do many mighty works in Nazareth because of their unbelief. He was the same… the people were different.

The second one is connected to the first because our unbelief is usually communicated through our words… but there are other types of words that hinder the work of the Holy Spirit.
With Words…

1 Thess. 5:18-20 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies.

Eph. 4:29-32 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Pro 18:21 DeathH4194 and lifeH2416 are in the powerH3027 of the tongue:H3956 and they that loveH157 it shall eatH398 the fruitH6529 thereof.

Our words have tremendous power. We are literally speaking life or death.
We can cancel out victory with our words.
Phil. 2:14 Do all things without complaining and disputing,
Matthew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”[b]
Notice the emphasis on fasting. Now I don’t believe that this means that in order to cast out a demon you had to be on a fast because we don’t see that a prerequisite every time someone casts out a demon.
The goal of fasting is to take our eyes off the physical needs and instead pursue spiritual things. Often the physical gets in the way of the spiritual, like what we feel and what we see. Fasting isn’t a hunger strike to manipulate God. It’s a focus on the spiritual. Throughout the fast coming up make sure to keep your eyes on the spiritual. When your flesh whines… tell it the spiritual is more important. And DON’T Complain your way through it!!

Part of the growth of the fast is keeping the right attitude throughout it. Whenever you’re tempted to focus on what you miss… instead focus on JESUS.
Our goal should always be to lean more into Him.
Not to prove how strong we are, not just to do what’s asked of us, but to focus more on Him.
When we go through hard things and we lean into Jesus our faith is strengthened instead of weakened. He becomes more precious to us and we become closer to Him and we’re able to trust Him to do what He said He would do.
As we see how faithful and trustworthy He is we’re able to believe what He says in the Word is true… not just for others but for us.
Then that faith in His word begins to set us free.

John 8:31-32 NKJV
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
We are set free to live new!!
The more that we live in the truth… the more we learn to live in freedom. As we walk in freedom we have something to share. WE have victory to share! The Victory that JESUS paid for us to walk in!!

The last one is Unforgiveness or Contentions – arguments
Pro 18:19 A brotherH251 offendedH6586 is harder to be won than a strongH5797 city:H4480 H7151 and their contentionsH4079 are like the barsH1280 of a castle.H759
Pro 18:20 A man'sH376 bellyH990 shall be satisfiedH7646 with the fruitH4480 H6529 of his mouth;H6310 and with the increaseH8393 of his lipsH8193 shall he be filled.H7646
Forgive quickly and freely and trust God to bring justice.

We are called to preach deliverance to the Captives. it’s hard to do that if you’re living in bondage!
But JESUS came to bring deliverance
Deliverance = freedom; (figuratively) pardon: - deliverance, forgiveness, liberty, remission.’
JESUS came to set us free from fear
1 John 4:17-19 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him[b] because He first loved us.

1 John 5:1-5 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our[a] faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

We need to read it, believe it, walk in it!
