No Room for Jesus

Luke 2:4-7
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea,
to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him
and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him
in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. (NIV)
“…because there was no room for them in the inn.” (KJV)

They laid baby Jesus in a manger, which is nothing more than a feeding trough for animals, because there was no room for them in the inn. No Vacancy.
No guest room available for them.

The Christmas story that tells us God so loved this condemned world and we as sinners, that He sent His Son Jesus to save the world. Yet many would reject Jesus too.
John 1:8-11
He (John the Baptist) was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Isaiah 53:3-6
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Jesus was rejected at birth, there was no room for Him. Jesus was also rejected at death.
Do We Have Room for Jesus?

I can point my finger at the world all day long, but the real question for me is,

“Do I have room in my life for Jesus?”

Do you have room in your life for Jesus?

Are we among those who have no room for Him in our lives?
Let’s Make Room for Jesus

We are the Innkeeper of our hearts, of our lives.
Is there room for Him? Is the Inn full? Can we make room?
To make room for Jesus we are going to have to give something else up. Maybe you’ve heard the expression, “you must give up to go up”?
It’s true. You may have to give up the good for the best.

A story is told of a little boy who was to play the part of the Innkeeper in the annual
children’s Christmas play at his church. Each time during the rehearsal it came time for him to tell Joseph and Mary that there was no room, he couldn’t say his lines.
The director finally asked him why he was having so much trouble. He told him,
“I just can’t send Jesus away! He can have my room!”

Jesus doesn’t just want your guest room, He wants YOUR ROOM.
Make room for Jesus in your heart and life.
