Student Ministries White Elephant Party | December 14

Students, come to church this Wednesday, December 14, from 6:30-8:15pm for this Christmas Party! We all have something that’s not worth keeping, so come with a White Elephant gift! Wear your most festive outfit as we snack together and exchange “new to us” gifts. Friends are always welcome, but can’t count as your gift.
Title: A Song of Love
Scripture: Psalm 25:1-22
Speaker: Nathan Miller, NathanM@ChristCommunityKC.org

Love will never be certain, but...I’m willing to call this a fact: A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all men, women, and children. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong.
- Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
>> Is God’s love worth depending on?
>> God’s love will include trouble.
>> God’s love will include trouble
- Are we crying out to Him?
>> God’s love will not put us to shame.
Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love
- Sally Lloyd-Jones, The Jesus Storybook Bible
>> God’s love will not put us to shame
- What are we appealing to?
>> God’s love will make us wait
- Are we waiting well?
Waiting is not sitting with folded hands doing nothing, but it is learning to do what we are told.
- Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
For whatever reason God chose to make man as he is—limited and suffering and subject to sorrows and death—He had the honesty and the courage to take His own medicine. Whatever game He is playing with His creation, He has kept His own rules and played fair. He can exact nothing from man that He has not exacted from Himself. He has Himself gone through the whole of human experience, from the trivial irritations of family life and the cramping restrictions of hard work and lack of money to the worst horrors of pain and humiliation, defeat, despair and death. When He was a man, He played the man. He was born in poverty and died in disgrace and thought it well worthwhile.
- Dorothy Sayers, “The Greatest Drama Ever Staged”
