A Walk In My Shoes

The Sanctuary Church Oakville
Welcome to the Sanctuary! We're glad you have joined us. Today, we will be looking at how God understands what we experience in life because he became human and faced the same things. Please take a moment to add your own notes, leave us feedback, or send us a prayer request. Thanks! Pastor Jon Webster

A Walk In My Shoes
A Troubled Saviour
The word used here to describe the kind of trouble Christ was experiencing means, horror, anxiety, revulsion.
Jesus, deeply troubled by his coming torture prayed, “Father, save me from this hour!”

God Understands What I Face
We tend to forget or place a lower significance on Christ being fully human than his divinity but in order for Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice for us he had to be fully human, made of flesh and blood.
Why is this important? In Jesus Christ, we have God who walked in our shoes. Although he never sinned, he experienced the trials we face, the pressures, pains, temptations, disappointments, everything. He understands us.

Christ Offers Us A Better Life Through The Cross
God Offers Me A New Way To Live
The Son gave up living in complete union with God (Trinity), to fulfill the role of our saviour and take on our alienation and rebellion from God. He gave up the beautiful for the bad.
We all encounter struggles, pain, failures, sickness, and disappointments in this life. In Christ, we are not being asked to give up the good life for something less. God invites us to lay down our messy, selfish lives for something much greater and beautiful.

A Decision Must Be Made
I Must Decide Whether To Accept Christ's Offer
Christ was victorious for us and has provided a way back to God, a life free from the addiction to sin and selfishness. But our time to turn to God is limited to our lifetime. In order to receive the blessings God offers us, we must die to self - give our life to King Jesus who understands life in our shoes and has provided a way out.
