"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Act 1:8 NKJV

Jesus told His disciples to wait.
We cannot live the Christian life without the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus made it clear that it wasn’t about what they did, but who they encountered that would make them a true witness of Himself. When we seek Jesus, the Holy Spirit will empower us to represent Him well.

Text: "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Act 1:8 NKJV
They waited and prayed with one another.
Jesus’ prayer in John 15 was that the disciples would be one so that the world will know that He was sent from God. David also records that the power of the Holy Spirit falls on unity. When we as God’s people come together and love each other, the Holy Spirit will work through us with POWER.

Text: These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. Act 1:14 NKJVText: Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Act 2:43 NKJV
The Holy Spirit fell on them and empowered them.
When we pray, God will answer. He will unite our hearts and demonstrate His power through the lives of His children.

Text: And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. Act 2:17-18 NKJV
Main Thought:
When Jesus left, he didn’t tell His disciples to do anything. He told them to wait till the Holy Spirit fell on them. He said once the Holy Spirit would fall on them, He would empower them to be his witnesses.

The disciples waited til the day of Pentecost was come and the Holy Spirit fell on them with tongues of fire. Peter stood up with boldness and shared the truth of who Jesus was and the way for people to know Him.

"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

God began answering prayers to confirm the message of the gospel that God had sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the whole world and through faith in Him, we could become God’s son’s and daughters.

God gives us the same privilege today to see the goodness of God, then to become His hands and feet to the world.
