I. If we are to join in the struggle, we must- Be Strong In The Lord. 10-12

“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”
- Not our own strength.

Why is it important to be strong in the Lord?
- Because our battle is not with flesh and blood.

The Lord and the strength of his might is the only hope we have of success in spiritual warfare… the struggle that makes us one.

Set yourself aside and be strong in Him.

We have no strength to stand against our enemy. All we have comes from the Lord being strong inside of us.
II. If we are to join in the struggle, we must- Put On The Armor Of God. 13-17

- Belt of truth = the confidance we have in the truth of Gods word.
- Breastplate of righteousness =Gods righteousness in Christ.
- Shoes of the gospel of peace = the Peace that comes from the Gospel
- Shield of faith = The Lord
- Helmet of salvation = Faithfulness of God to complete the salvation He has begun.
- Sword of the spirit = Word of God

All who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus have this available to them.
- “Take it up! Put it on!”
III. If we are to join in the struggle, we must- Be Constant In Prayer. 18-20

“praying at all times” is more about keeping “alert” to the needs of the saints, those who are in the trenches with you.
- When needs come up, we pray for them… we petition the Lord on their behalf.

Paul asks for prayer. He has been imprisoned, beaten and has traveled around the world because of his zeal for the gospel… but he clearly understands that it doesn’t come from him. It comes from the Lord who gives him words and opens his mouth… and that comes from the prayers of the saints.

Seek constantly to understand the needs of their brothers and sisters in Christ
- God never intended for us to go it alone. He intended for us all to look out for and pray for one another.
IV. If we are to join in the struggle, we must- Encourage One Another. 21-23

Paul offered encouragement to the saints through Tychicus.

He spoke blessings of PEACE & LOVE with FAITH & GRACE.

We all need encouragement, often.

Spiritual warfare is tough and the devil is a crafty liar.

The peace & love with faith & grace that God dispenses through the encouragement of fellow believers’, is what keeps us in the fight
- It is the medicine that heals our battle wounds, so be generous with encouragement.
