Moses sees something incredible, a bush on fire but not being consumed. Moses' asks a question while God waits to share the answer.
I believe what we have here is a man who has been so caught up thinking about what could have been or what should have been that he has become blinded by the fact God could still use him.
QUESTION: is there anything in your past or life currently that is blinding you to the way God wants to use you?
D.L. Moody defined Moses' life as:
1. First 40 years he thought he was somebody
2. Second 40 years he learned he was a nobody
3. Last 40 years he was discovered what God can do with a nobody
Let's contemplate this for a moment. As of now Moses is only seeing himself as a nobody so the last thought in his mind is the way God wants to use him. An ordinary day guiding sheep is about to get real interesting. Moses isn't sure what he's about to encounter, but the burning bush that's not being consumed has gotten his curiosity.
It amazes me that God uses ordinary things to make an extraordinary impact. You got up this morning, did your Sunday usual thing, but now you are here at BBC and God may take your ordinary Sunday and make something extraordinary with it.
QUESTION: if God chose to speak to you today in an audible voice what would he say to you?
For Moses, it was, "Stop! You are entering holy ground."

Of all the things we'd assume God would say, "Stop! You are entering holy ground" most likely isn't on our radar. Let's use Moses' life as an example of what we'd assume God would say to us:
1. "Wow! You have made a mess of your life!"
2. "Moses, you remember murdering that Egyptian? I do!"
3. "Moses, why did you run for your life when I could have protected you?"
We all most likely assumed God would remind us of our past, our failures or our inadequacies. Yet, before Moses could hear all of what God had for him he had to come to terms with God's holiness.

Today like no other time in history we see a movement that attempts great things for God but rarely succeeds because there is a lack of recognition of God's holiness. Today’s believer in Jesus Christ suffers because we have lost sacredness of God’s holiness. This is why there can be:
1. Sin without conviction
2. Service without love (1 Corinthians 13)
3. Sever relationships rather than forgive
4. Selfish living rather than selfless living
For Moses to hear the rest of what God was going to tell him he'd have to recognize God's holiness. There's no way around it, for you and I to be used of God greatly we too have to come to terms with God's holiness.
The word “holy” means to be set apart or sacred.
