A Stretcher Bearer is a person who helps carry a stretcher in order to remove the wounded from a battlefield.
· Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (NKJV)
· You and I have been called to be SPIRITUAL STRETCHER BEARERS – bearing one another’s burdens on this battlefield of life.

JESUS RECOGNIZED THE MEN’S BOLD MOVE AS AN EXPRESSION OF FAITH - Verse 5: When Jesus saw their faith
Mark tells us, “Seeing their faith, he spoke to the paralytic” and healed him. In other words, the man was healed not because of his own faith, but due to the faith Jesus saw in his friends!
The only way to have such stretcher-bearers is to be a stretcher-bearer like that for someone else.
· Who are your stretcher-bearers?
· Whose stretcher-bearer are you?
Jesus’ response to the friends’ act of faith was unexpected. He pronounced: “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
JESUS SAW BEYOND THE IMMOBILE LEGS OF THE MAN
· TO A HEART THAT WAS PARALYZED BY SIN
· HE SPOKE TO THE MAN’S INNER NEED
· FOR HIS PURPOSE WAS TO HEAL THE WHOLE MAN, NOT JUST THE OUTER FAÇADE
WHAT LESSON IS INHERENT IN THIS TEXT?
GOD HAS NOT CALLED US TO BE MERELY MEDIATORS OF HELP
· BUT MESSENGERS OF HOPE
· OUR HANDS OF HELP, MUST ALSO BE HANDS OF HOPE
THE FOUR INDIVIDUALS WHO CARRIED THE PARALYTIC MAN TO CHRIST DARED TO BELIEVE AND ACT OUT OF HOPE
· My definition of HOPE: FAITH ON ITS TIP-TOES
These four men were exhibiting exactly that sort of HOPE
· A HOPE that summoned them to carry this man to Jesus.
· A HOPE that challenged them to push through the obstacles.
· A HOPE that caused them spurn the ridicule of others and seek only the face of God.
