Here we see the connection between the power of God and the Voice of God. That’s how important it is to seek, recognize, and heed God’s voice!
I believe that much of what God does in v. 11 – giving both strength and peace, is through His Voice.
In this series we’re going to learn how to position ourselves to hear His voice, and recognize when He speaks.

Hebrews 11:3 - By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
We see that God’s Voice (Word) is not just It carries power with it.
We see that God’s Voice (Word) is not just It carries power with it.
We saw the same thing in 2 Pet. 3 in our last series:
5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Notice that Peter tells the world was both created and preserved by the voice of the Lord. He goes on in verse 10 - 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
What does this sound like? Nuclear fission!
Heb. 1:3 tells us “He holds everything together with his powerful word.” (NCV)
So God not only created all things by His Voice, He maintains them as well by the same Voice. It is an active ongoing process.
It would appear, that when God gets ready to destroy this universe, He will simply quit “upholding all things by His Word”!

The Voice of the Lord brings instruction, construction, and the lack of God’s voice can bring destruction.
John 5:24-28 tells us one of the most important things God does by His voice: it brings the dead to life.
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live...28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
Notice the first time we hear God’s Voice, our spirit comes to life.
The second time, our body comes to life.
If you’re born again, you’ve heard God’s voice!

Summary and Response
So… we see that God’s Voice is both instruction and construction. That means that whatever He tells you, He simultaneously gives you the power to do.
Furthermore, when His Voice is removed, you get destruction.
Example: not seeking God’s voice is like taking a journey without asking directions.
More than that, it’s like taking a journey without getting the means (power) to get there (construction as well as instruction). Like going to Florida without a car. This is what a lot of people think God will tell them to do – take a long journey under their own steam!
More than that, not seeking God’s Voice is means that you will not be able to escape the inevitable destruction that is coming (i.e., an earthquake, but you don’t know where it will occur). The early Christians escaped the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 because they heard Jesus warn it would be destroyed. God knows what ‘earthquakes’ are coming and where, both at a personal and global level.
- Are you aggressively seeking God’s voice?
- Has His voice called you from death to life?
