Galatians 5:22 (NKJ)
But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithful-ness, 23 Meekness, self control: against such there is no law.

It is interesting to hear Jesus say, "Whosoever shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

Do we understand this quality of life and do we live it?

WHAT IS MEEKNESS?

MEEKNESS: FLOWS IN THE SPIRIT
One who Flows in the Spirit
Ivor Rosser, in his book, the Fruit of the Spirit: “The primary meaning of "meekness" is "to melt and flow in a liquid state," "to soften."

Meekness grows by Submission. Opposite of hard, unyielding...

MEEKNESS IS POWER UNDER CONTROL

MEEKNESS DESCRIBES ONE WHO SUBMITS TO GOD

The meek accept God's will and dealings without sulking, rebelling, or resisting.
-Bells and Pomegranates: The Gifts of the Spirit.

MEEKNESS DESCRIBES ONE WHO IS RECEPTIVE TO GOD'S WORD
James 1:19-21(NKJ) So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
II. WHAT ARE THE
RESULTS of MEEKNESS

RESOLVES TO KEEP UNITY OF THE SPIRIT.

Eph 4:2 (NKJV) with all lowliness and gentleness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

II. RELATES GENTLY WITH ALL MEN.

2 Tim 2:24-25 (NKJV) And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,

III. RESTORES THOSE FALLEN INTO SIN

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall And all the king’s horses
& all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty together again."
...originally written about people, broken people, people who fell off the wall, & people who found their lives smashed.\
And all the king’s horses & all the king’s men could not put them back together again.
BUT GOD CAN!

IV. ENABLES EFFECTIVE WITNESS

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
Colossians 4:6 ESV

WHAT ARE THE PROMISES TO THE MEEK?

Psalm 149:4, "For the Lord takes pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation."
He will adorn the meek with salvation...
Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness..

Psalms 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

When King Humbert of Italy came to the throne; Naples, one of the chief cities of the newly made kingdom was in a state of insurrection against the monarchy.
Politicians were advising stern measures; the king would not allow it.
Deadly cholera broke out and raged with a fury among the people of Naples. The young King, fired with a noble resolve to prove himself to his disloyal subjects.
Started alone...and went through the hospitals of Naples ministering to his subjects with his hands. The people thanked him brokenly for his self sacrifice on their behalf.
The plague was checked and Naples was a conquered city. Conquered by love and Meekness. The meek shall inherit the earth.

The meek leaves everything in the hands of God
Two wives were doing their washing in a laundry mat. They were both sitting mend their husband’s pants. As they were sowing, the one lady said, "My husband is so discouraged, so cold. We can’t find anything good on TV. Nothing seems to go right for him. Every one at work picks on him and we are not appreciated by anyone. We cry a lot. Our home is so sad and we live in despair. Our kids are brats. When we go to church the song leader is dead. The pastor is dry"
The other lady said "My husband is so excited. He can’t wait to go to church. He loves the sermons. We go visit people all the time. He is so enthused. We laugh all the time. We can’t wait to see what God is going to do for us"
It got very quiet in the laundry mat as the two women continued sewing on their husbands pants.
Seems one was patching the seat of the pants, the other was mending the knees.
