Bulletin

Someone asked me last Sunday what I enjoy best about pastoring an international church. Without hesitation, I

replied, “The best thing is that every Sunday we get a glimpse of heaven.” I then explained that the vision we have of

heaven given to us in Revelation 7:9-12 is of people from all over the earth worshiping God together. That is what we

have here. So we invite you from wherever you are from to worship with us. Feel free to sing and pray in your first

language and accept our invitation to remain afterwards for coffee and tea, we would like to get to know you better.

The Fruit of the Spirit - Galatians 5: 22-23

goal of the Christian life

…is to become like Christ and bring honour
and glory to the Father. We do this by fulfilling His commands, and by becoming like Him in word, deed and character.

So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul (Paul the Apostle) met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. Acts 11:26 (NIV)

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son… Romans 8:29 (NIV)

And we all…are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

…until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:13
how do we measure growth?

1.Numbers?
2.Obedience to the law? Obedience to the commands of God?

how do we measure growth?

3. Knowledge

Spiritual maturity is not automatic as a result of the mastery of scriptural teachings. Of course that is an essential element in attaining maturity, but of itself it cannot produce maturity. The accumulation of biblical information is of immense value, but it is only as the principles of Scripture are worked out in daily obedience that spiritual growth is advanced. Bible study can be largely an intellectual exercise that leaves the life unchanged. There is of necessity an intellectual component in this pursuit, but it is fruitful only if it results in increased likeness to Christ. Sincere moral effort in dependence on the Holy Spirit is involved.

how do we measure growth?

Is it through:
1.Numbers?
2.Obedience to the law?
3. Knowledge
4. By comparing ourselves to Christ?

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

I would like to learn just one thing from you:
Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? Galatians 3:2-5 (NIV)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:6 (NIV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
love...

Christian maturity is not determined by what you do or what you know, but by who you are and how you relate to God and others.
