Days of Noah: The Return of the Ancient Spirits and the Battle of the Gods (Part 3)
We are excited to announce the launch of Pastor James Taylor's new sermon series: DAYS OF NOAH. Starting in September, we will dig deep into Matthew 24:37 "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." By taking a look at current events and history, we will understand "That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun."

Matthew 24 As it were in the days of Noah
Genesis 6:1. Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” 4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
I. Introduction
A. The synchronized, biblically endorsed Extra- biblical texts.
1. Enoch
2. Jubilees
3. Jasher
· Regarding extra biblical text, we will be using quotes from these books
· I do not consider these books to be canon, but I do consider them to be valuable sources of information.
· I say synchronized because they follow the same order of events.
· Biblically endorsed; because the Bible itself either quotes from, references to, or in some case even mentions them by name.
B. I believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God
C. Noah lived 950 years
· 600 before the flood
· 350 years after the flood
II. Body
A. The Genesis Six Experiment
1. Genesis 6:1-2 calls them “Sons of God”
2. I Enoch 6:1-2 supports, calls them angels of heaven
3. Jubilees 5;1 supports, calls them angels of God
4. These were the Angels who sinned
· II Peter 2:4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly.
· Jude 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
· Jubilees 5:6 And against the angels whom He had sent upon the earth, he was exceedingly wroth, and He gave commandment to root them out of all their dominion, and he bade us to bind them in the depths of the earth, and behold they are bound in the midst of them, and are kept separate.
5. Where were they bound, and where are they being kept?
· Tartarus: the lowest level of hell
· In Greek Mythology it was said Tartarus was where the Olympians put the Titans
B. God’s Judgement against the Angels that sinned
1 Enoch 10:9. And to Gabriel said the Lord: 'Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle: for length of days shall they not have. 10. And no request that they (i.e. their fathers) make of thee shall be granted unto their fathers on their behalf; for they hope to live an eternal life, and that each one of them will live five hundred years.' 11. And the Lord said unto Michael: 'Go, bind Semjâzâ and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness. 12. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever is consummated.
1. Who is SemJaza: Semjaza was a Archon, meaning leader. Is a fallen angel of apocryphal Jewish and Christian tradition that ranked in the heavenly hierarchy as one of the Watchers.
2. Sins of Samyaza and his associates
3. In the Book of Enoch, Samyaza is portrayed as the leader of a band of angels called the Watchers that are consumed with lust for mortal women and become fallen angels.
· Enoch 6:3-5And Semjâzâ, who was their leader, said unto them: "I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin." And they all answered him and said: "Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual curses not to abandon this plan but to do this thing." Then sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual curses upon it.
· 1st Corinthians 11:6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. 10 For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.
·
4. Semjâzâ convinced several other Watchers to join him in fornicating with women. As a result, he and the other sinful Watchers begot giant offspring (called Nephilim in the Book of Genesis) that dominated and feasted upon humans during the days of Jared. The Watchers' other sin was to teach humans various creative arts — especially Azazel's, who taught the secrets of war, which brought down the wrath of God.
5. Enoch 8:3 Semjaza taught the casting of spells and root cutting;
6. God commanded the angel Gabriel to cause the Giants to wage civil war:
7. Enoch 10:9 And to Gabriel said the Lord: "Proceed against the biters and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy [the children of fornication and] the children of the Watchers from amongst men [and cause them to go forth]: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle: for length of days shall they not have ..."
8. Finally, the judgement of the associates of Samyaza is described.
· And the Lord said unto Michael: "Go, bind Semjâzâ and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness.
· And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgement and of their consummation, till the judgement that is for ever and ever is consummated. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire:and to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined forever. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all generations ..."
C. Do Angels Tremble @ the judgement of God?
1. Enoch 6:2-4 Semjaza made them make a pack with Him
2. Enoch 13:33. And on account of every act of blasphemy, tyranny, and sin, which thou hast discovered to the children of men. 4. Then departing from him I spoke to them all together; 5. And they all became terrified, and trembled;
3. Enoch 68:2 On that day Michael answered Raphael and said: The power of the spirit grips ma and makes me tremble because of the severity of the judgement secrets and the judgement of the angels. Who can endure the severe judgment which has been executed, and before which they melt away. 3. And Michael answered again, and said to Raphael: who would not have a softened heart concerning it, and whose mind would not be troubled by this judgement against them because of those who have led them out?
4. Psalms 82:God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. 2 How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? Selah Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. 5 They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable. 6 I said, “You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. 7 But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations.
5. James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
