The Pursuit - 12 WeeksSample

The Spirit isn’t the only resource God gives us for victory. He also gives us his Word. Paul explains in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that “all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”
Think of the Bible as both a compass and a toolkit. It points you in the right direction, and it gives you practical help along the way. Without it, you’re like a sailor lost at sea without a map. With it, you can navigate the challenges of life with confidence.
But here’s the danger: too many Christians own Bibles but rarely open them. Or they pick and choose verses they like while ignoring the hard parts. Jesus warned against this in Luke 6:46 when he said, “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?” A victorious Christian doesn’t just hear God’s Word — they obey it.
Make Bible reading a regular rhythm, not just a Sunday activity. Let it shape your thinking, confront your sin, and remind you of God’s promises. Over time, you’ll find yourself equipped to handle whatever life throws at you.
Reflection:
What’s one way you can build a more consistent habit of reading and applying God’s Word?
