Preparing for Outpouring

DAY 7 OF 10

Persevere in Prayer

Jesus paints a picture of prayer that’s bold, persistent, and even a little disruptive. A man knocks at his friend’s door at midnight—not because he wants something for himself, but because someone else is in need. He keeps knocking, not because it’s polite, but because it’s urgent. This is the kind of prayer Jesus invites us into: not timid or formulaic, but tenacious. Shameless audacity. Not because God is reluctant to give, but because persistence shapes us into people who truly seek.

Prayer isn’t just about outcomes—it’s about relationship. The more we knock, the more we discover who God is and how deeply He welcomes us. So we keep knocking. We keep asking. Not because we are trying to wear God down, but because we trust He hears—and He answers.

Prayer: Faithful Father, teach us to pray with boldness and persistence. Give us the courage to keep asking, even when answers are delayed, and the humility to seek not just Your gifts, but Your heart. May our prayers rise with faith and expectancy. Come, Holy Spirit. Strengthen us to persevere. Amen.

Reflection:

1) When have I felt tempted to give up in prayer? What helped me to keep going?

2) What situation in my life needs the kind of “shameless audacity” Jesus describes?

About this Plan

Preparing for Outpouring

Welcome to Preparing for Outpouring – A 10-Day Journey Toward Pentecost. No matter where you are in your faith—seasoned believer or just beginning to explore—this journey is for you. Each day offers space to slow down, reflect, and make room for the Holy Spirit. Scripture says Jesus gives “the Spirit without limit” (John 3:34), and He’s still pouring out His presence on all who are willing to receive.
