Preparing for Outpouring

DAY 6 OF 10

Be Purified for Prayer

Before the Holy Spirit was poured out, the disciples took time to prepare. Their first response wasn’t action—it was alignment. In the quiet upper room, they devoted themselves to prayer and addressed unfinished matters of the heart and community. Choosing a new apostle wasn’t just about filling a role—it was about restoring unity and readiness. They were making space for what God was about to do.

We often long for the power of Pentecost without walking the path of preparation. But Scripture reminds us: the Spirit rests not on chaos, but on surrendered lives. The disciples weren’t perfect, but they were willing. Their hearts were repentant, their relationships reconciled, and their eyes fixed on Jesus. Repentance clears the way. Forgiveness softens the ground. Surrender unlocks the door. Before God moves through us, He often moves in us—calling us to let go and purify the spaces of our hearts. When we do, we become vessels ready to carry His presence with joy and power.

Prayer: Holy God, we come before You with humble hearts, asking for cleansing and renewal. Where there is sin, bring conviction. Where there is disunity, bring peace. Prepare our hearts and lives for more of You. Come, Holy Spirit. Purify us for prayer and purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection:

  1. Is there any unfinished business in my heart or relationships that need to be brought before God?
  2. What might it look like to “get my house in order” spiritually?

About this Plan

Preparing for Outpouring

Welcome to Preparing for Outpouring – A 10-Day Journey Toward Pentecost. No matter where you are in your faith—seasoned believer or just beginning to explore—this journey is for you. Each day offers space to slow down, reflect, and make room for the Holy Spirit. Scripture says Jesus gives “the Spirit without limit” (John 3:34), and He’s still pouring out His presence on all who are willing to receive.
