Simple Prayer: How to Pray Like Jesus

DAY 1 OF 25

Father

The Father Who Loves and Cares

Read: Psalm 103
"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him..." (Psalm 103:13 NIV)

Devotional Thought:
Psalm 103 is a song of praise for God’s love and mercy. David reminds us that God is slow to anger and abounding in love, like a father who deeply cares for his children. His love is not based on our performance but on his character.
God’s love for us is not distant or transactional—it is tender, like that of a father who knows our weaknesses and still chooses to love us. When we pray, “Our Father,” we are invited to rest in his unchanging love.

Reflection Activity:
Find a quiet space and take a few deep breaths. Picture God looking at you with the love of a compassionate father.

  • Breath Prayer: As you inhale, pray: “Father, you see me…”
As you exhale, pray: “…and you love me.” Repeat for a few minutes.
  • Write down one area where you need to experience his love today and ask him to meet you there.
  • Or, write down three ways you’ve experienced God’s love and thank him for each one.

Prayer Practice: Ongoing Conversation
Throughout today, talk to God in the middle of whatever you're doing. Thank him for moments of joy, ask for help when you feel stressed, or simply say, “Thank you, Father, for loving me.”

Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving me with deep compassion. You see my weaknesses and love me still. Help me to trust in your goodness and rest in the security of being your child. Let your love shape how I pray and how I live today. Amen.
