Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 4 OF 365

Handel’s "Messiah" is one beautiful piece of music. The “Hallelujah Chorus” describes Christ’s triumph over all the forces of evil. It portrays Him as King of kings and Lord of lords who will reign forever and ever. Christ’s rule over all creation is the climax of God’s plan revealed in the Garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost access to Paradise—God’s presence. We read in Genesis 3:15 that God then promised to send a Savior to crush Satan and eliminate sin. From then on, God has been executing His plan to redeem the people He created. Christ came into the world to pay the sin debt we all owed to God. Since Christ died, God forgives and promises eternal life to those who place their faith in Him. The entire Bible is the story of God’s strategy to redeem us. The last book of the Bible—the Book of Revelation—describes the climax of that plan. John speaks about paradise in chapters 21 and 22 of Revelation. He calls it New Jerusalem. He wrote that in the New Jerusalem, God Himself would live with His people. “He will remove all their sorrows. There will be no more death, or sorrow, or crying or pain. There will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.” Some may consider this to be pie in the sky. In truth, it is God’s promise for those who love and trust in Jesus Christ.
