Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 1 OF 365

A saintly believer I knew was convinced that she would not die. She expected Jesus Christ to rapture the Church during her lifetime. Well, she did die, and today she is with the Lord. The Bible encourages us to remain ready, because no one knows when Christ will return. That was not true when Jesus came the first time. We read about Simeon in Luke 2. He lived in Jerusalem and was righteous, devout, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Simeon was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to arrive. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. When Mary and Joseph entered the temple, he took the baby Jesus into his arms, then uttered this song: “Lord, now I can die in peace! As You promised me, I have seen the Savior You have given to all the people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and He is the glory of your people Israel!” Mary and Joseph were amazed at what Simeon said concerning Jesus. Simeon blessed them by saying, “This child will be rejected by many in Israel, and it will be their undoing. But He will be the greatest of joy to many others.” No one knows when the Lord Jesus will return, but until He does, we faithfully live to please Him. We share the Good News of the Gospel, and we seek to foster justice and right conduct in our world.
