"You'll understand when you get older" is probably one of the most frustrating things we hear growing up. It can make us feel like our maturity is constantly being questioned. Like, why can't they trust that you'll understand now? But it never seems to fail — we can't escape those defeating words, "You're just not old enough." Have you ever found your age frustrating? Or is there something you would like to fast forward in your life?
The Bible is a great place to turn when we feel this way. It mentions how there's a time for everything — the exciting moments and the moments that are difficult to get through, like weeping and laughing or mourning and dancing. Maybe we can't drive or head to college, but the time will come. We can remind ourselves that the season we desire most will come.
Can you think about a certain frustration you have because "you're just not old enough?" What is it, and how can you remind yourself that the season you look forward to will come in its time?
