Have you ever watched the movie Mulan? Mulan, the main character, sings about what she is wrestling with, "When will my reflection show who I am inside?" When she thinks about who she is in the moment, it doesn't match up with who she is becoming — what she truly wants to be known for.
A man in the Bible named Paul took the time to consider the same idea. He begins to reflect on his growth and maturity. Paul sees the progress he's made, specifically when it comes to loving others. He points to the immature ways of a child as something to leave behind and says three big areas of growth show up in how we speak, what our thought life is like, and how we reason.
When you take time to reflect on the past year, do who you think you are at this moment match up with who you're becoming or want to be?
