Walking With Him Daily Acts Bible Plan

DAY 5 OF 28

Day 5 Read – Acts 5 Acts 5:40 - 41 "After they called in the apostles and had them flogged, they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them. Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the Name." This was the second time that the apostles were instructed not to preach in the name of Jesus. The responded to the high priest by telling him that they must obey God not men and this made the high priest want to kill them. Instead a Pharisee that was well respected stood up and convinced them not to kill them, but he showed them that they may in fact be fighting against God. So instead of killing the apostles they had them flogged, order them again not to preach in the name of Jesus and sent them away. And what do the apostles do? The leave rejoicing that they were worthy to be dishonored for Jesus and go start preaching again. Wow. What would you do if you were persecuted for His name? Would you rejoice that you were counted worthy to suffer for His name? Lord, we are your servants. Give us hearts to know you more and be ready to stand for you in the face of evil.
