Walking With Him Daily Acts Bible Plan

DAY 9 OF 28

Day 9 Read – Acts 9 Acts 9:15 - 16 "But the Lord said to him, 'go! For this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to Gentiles, kings, and the Israelites. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name!'" In this passage, God is talking about Saul or soon to be known as Paul. He was devoutly against Christianity until one day when Jesus showed up and caused him to see the light. However, I am intrigued by the statement that God makes here. He says that He will show Saul how much he must suffer for the name of Jesus. So what does that say for the health and wealth gospel? Paul, the one who wrote much of the New Testament, was told how much he would suffer for the name of Jesus from the beginning that he was called to be a follower.  So does that mean we are guaranteed a life of no issues or wealth because of Jesus? Absolutely not! What it does say, (combined with the rest of the New Testament) is that while we might suffer for Jesus, we will be given peace and joy that comes from above. We will be promised a reward in heaven. We will be promised eternal life. Lord help us to understand what your salvation brings, and if we have to suffer for your name Lord, we rejoice that you considered us worthy to suffer.
