Walking With Him Daily Acts Bible PlanSample
Day 16
Read – Acts 16
Acts 16:31 "So they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household.'"
I often wonder what Paul meant when he said this. The prison guard had just asked him what he needed to do to be saved and this was his response. I know that salvation is a personal decision, so the jailers choice could not have gotten his entire family saved but I wonder if Paul knew that he would bring his entire family to them to hear the message or did he just know that this jailer would be able to influence his family in such a way that it would bring them to be saved. I am not sure, but one thing we can see very evidently from this passage is that the choices that the jailer made directly affected his family. Sometimes we act as if our choices only affect us and that we are isolated to make our own decisions without considering that it may and will affect those around us. This is never the case. Our decisions affect not only us but those close to us and sometimes those that we are not even close with. As such we must be very intentional to decide what we will do and how we will do it. This is both from making good choices, like that of the jailer here and bad choices that can cause destruction in your life and family unit. Choosing God today can have a ripple effect in your life for those around you. Lord, help us always to choose you in everything we do, every day.
