Day 13 Read – Acts 13 Acts 13:2 - 3 "As they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Hold Spirit said, 'Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work I have called them to.' Then after they fasted, prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them off." All throughout history God has called very specifically for certain people to do certain things. Typically those people were already in tune to God's voice and ready to hear Him when He spoke. If God spoke to you, would you recognize His voice enough to know it was Him or even to hear Him? You will notice in the passage above that the disciples were "ministering to the Lord and fasting" when the Holy Spirit spoke. The key piece of this is that the disciples were putting themselves in a place that they were seeking God and would recognize the Spirit when it spoke. Likewise, look at their response. They fasted and prayed some more, they laid hand on them (a way of affirming their calling before the Lord) and sent them off! They did not hesitate to act. They were ready to hear His voice and they were ready to move. How ready are you in your life to hear God's voice? How ready are you to move when He speaks? Take some time today to consider what you can do to put yourself in a place where you can be sensitive to God's voice. Lord, tear down the walls in our hearts so that we can hear your voice. Give us sensitivity to your call so we can move when you speak.
