Do you love the brethren by confronting those in sin?
The Apostle Paul writes to the Church of Galatia, “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness…” (Galatians 6:1 NKJV). We have a God-given obligation that, when our brother or sister steps into sin deliberately, we are to privately confront them to bring them back into right fellowship with God. Jesus gave the groundwork for this in Matthew 18:15-16. Love confronts those in sin because we desire to see our brothers and our sisters be blessed by remaining in fellowship with the Lord. The goal is reconciliation. Our goal should never be mere punishment, but to restore the saint. It takes boldness, it takes courage, but it's the right thing to do.
