PSALM XXII.
David foremaist, an’ Chryst ahin him, baith maen fu’ sair the mislipp’nin o’ God i’ their ain day o’ dule: mony wonner-wyss words i’ the sang-makar’s mouthe anent this, an’ till be weel tentit. For the lave, God himlane hauds a’ livin: nae man can haud himsel livin; they come a’ an’ they gang; bot they’re countit ay till the Lord for ane, for the Lord himsel maks a’.

5They sigh’t till yersel, an’ wan weel awa; they lippen’d till thee, an’ war nane affrontit.
6Bot ’am but a worm, an’ nae man;#Isaiah 53:3 a carl’s sang, an’ a geck o’ the peopil.
7A’ that see me laugh me by;#Mat 27:39; Mark 15:29 they schute wi’ the lip, they cave the head;#Job 16:4; Ps 109:25 — an’ quo’ they,
8He lippen’d the Lord; lat the Lord gar him gang:#Mat 27:43 lat the Lord redd him but, sen he#22:8 Either the Lord or David. liket him weel.#Ps 91:14
9Bot yerlane redd me out frae the wame;#Ps 71:6 ye mislippen’d me nane on my mither’s bosom.
10On yersel was I cuisten frae the womb; frae my mither’s bouk, ye ’been my God.#Isaiah 46:3
11Be-na far frae me, Lord, for stretts are nar; for nane but yerlane can mak sikker.
12Droves o’ nowte hae rinket me roun;#Deut 32:14; Ps 68:30; Ezek 39:18; Amos 4:1 stoor stirks o’ Bashan hae fankit me about.
13They glaum’d abune me wi’ their mouthes,#Job 16:10; Lam 2:16; 3:46 like a rievan an’ a roaran lyoun.
14’Am skail’d like watir; ilk bane o’ me’s lowse;#Dan 5:6 my heart’s nae better nor wax,#Job 23:16 it’s thow’d down laigh i’ my bosom.#22:14 Heb. mids o’ my inside.
15My bouk clang like a shaird,#Prov 17:22 an’ my tongue stak till my hals;#Job 29:10; Lam 4:4; John 19:28 an’ ye brought me till the stoure o’ dead.
16For brachs hae forset me roun; the gath’ran o’ ill-doers fankit me about; they drave thro’ my han’s an’ my feet.#Mat 27:35; Mark 15:24; Luke 23:33; John 19:23, 37; 20:25
17I may count ilk bane i’ my bouk, for they glaum an’ glow’r at mysel:#22:17 His banes wore thro’ his fell, an’ rave his vera cleedin; whiles taen anither gate, anent Chryst.#Luke 23:35

25Frae yersel comes the sugh o’ my sang;#Ps 35:18 i’ the gath’ran sae gran’ I sal bide my trystes, afore them that fear him.#Ps 116:14
26Lown-livin folk#Ps 69:32; Isaiah 65:13 sal feed an’ fen’; they sal lilt till the Lord, wha leuk for himsel: yer heart sal live as lang’s the lave.
27A’ neuks o’ the yirth sal hae min’, an’ sal turn their gate till the Lord; #Ps 2:8; 72:11; 86:9; 98:3; Isaiah 49:6 ilk kin o’ the folk sal lout afore thee.#Ps 96:7
28For the kingryk ’s the Lord’s; #Obad 1:21; Zech 14:9 an’ maister is he ’mang the natiouns.
29The best on yirth sal feed an’ fa’;#Phil 2:10 wha gang till stoure, ilk ane maun lout afore him; for nae livin wight can ay thole livin.
30 Bot their out-come sal thole,#22:30 Heb. sal do service, sal be thirls. an’ be countit till the Lord for kithgettin.#Ps 87:6
31They sal come i’ their day, #Ps 78:6; 86:9; 102:18 an’ gar his rightousness be ken’d to the niest-come kin, that himsel did it. #22:31 Ilka kithgettin has its ain wark to do, an’ its ain fee frae the Lord for service.
