Psalms 75:4-7 - Compare All Versions

Psalms 75:4-7 NIV (New International Version)

To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns. Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’ ” No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.

Psalms 75:4-7 ESV (English Standard Version 2025)

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn; do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’” For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.

Psalms 75:4-7 NLT (New Living Translation)

“I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’ I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists! Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with such arrogance.’” For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.

Psalms 75:4-7 CSB (Christian Standard Bible)

I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn.  Do not lift up your horn against heaven  or speak arrogantly.’ ”  Exaltation does not come from the east, the west, or the desert, for God is the Judge: He brings down one and exalts another.

Psalms 75:4-7 KJV (King James Version)

I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: And to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: Speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Psalms 75:4-7 NKJV (New King James Version)

“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn. Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ” For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.

Psalms 75:2-8 MSG (The Message)

You say, “I’m calling this meeting to order, I’m ready to set things right. When the earth goes topsy-turvy And nobody knows which end is up, I nail it all down, I put everything in place again. I say to the smart alecks, ‘That’s enough,’ to the bullies, ‘Not so fast.’” Don’t raise your fist against High God. Don’t raise your voice against Rock of Ages. He’s the One from east to west; from desert to mountains, he’s the One. God rules: he brings this one down to his knees, pulls that one up on her feet. GOD has a cup in his hand, a bowl of wine, full to the brim. He draws from it and pours; it’s drained to the dregs. Earth’s wicked ones drink it all, drink it down to the last bitter drop!

Psalms 75:4-7 NASB2020 (New American Standard Bible - NASB)

“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn; Do not lift up your horn on high, Do not speak with insolent pride.’ ” ¶For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the desert comes exaltation; But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another.

Psalms 75:4-7 AMP (Amplified Bible)

“I said to the arrogant, ‘Do not boast;’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn [of self-glorification]. ‘Do not lift up your [defiant and aggressive] horn on high, Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ” ¶For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the desert comes exaltation. [Is 14:13] But God is the Judge; He puts down one and lifts up another.

Psalms 75:4-7 NET (New English Translation)

I say to the proud, “Do not be proud,” and to the wicked, “Do not be so confident of victory! Do not be so certain you have won! Do not speak with your head held so high! For victory does not come from the east or west, or from the wilderness. For God is the judge! He brings one down and exalts another.
