For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face. I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children; for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me. When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn

For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face. I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons. For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.

For I endure insults for your sake; humiliation is written all over my face. Even my own brothers pretend they don’t know me; they treat me like a stranger. Passion for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. When I weep and fast, they scoff at me.

For I have endured insults because of you, and shame has covered my face.  I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sons  because zeal for your house has consumed me,  and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.  I mourned and fasted, but it brought me insults.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; Shame hath covered my face. I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children. For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, That was to my reproach.

Because of you I look like an idiot, I walk around ashamed to show my face. My brothers shun me like a bum off the street; My family treats me like an unwanted guest. I love you more than I can say. Because I’m madly in love with you, They blame me for everything they dislike about you. When I poured myself out in prayer and fasting, All it got me was more contempt.

Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face. I have become estranged from my brothers, And a stranger to my mother’s sons. For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me. When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my disgrace.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Confusion and dishonor have covered my face. I have become estranged from my brothers And an alien to my mother’s sons. [John 7:3-5] For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the [mocking] insults of those who insult You have fallen on me. [John 2:17; Rom 15:3] When I wept and humbled myself with fasting, It became my reproach.

For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced. My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner. Certainly zeal for your house consumes me; I endure the insults of those who insult you. I weep and refrain from eating food, which causes others to insult me.
