Psalms 41:9-12
Psalms 41:8-12 The Message (MSG)
The rumor goes out, “He’s got some dirty, deadly disease. The doctors have given up on him.” Even my best friend, the one I always told everything —he ate meals at my house all the time!— has bitten my hand. GOD, give grace, get me up on my feet. I’ll show them a thing or two. Meanwhile, I’m sure you’re on my side— no victory shouts yet from the enemy camp! You know me inside and out, you hold me together, you never fail to stand me tall in your presence so I can look you in the eye.
Psalms 41:9-12 King James Version (KJV)
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, And raise me up, that I may requite them. By this I know that thou favourest me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever.
Psalms 41:9-12 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, That I may repay them. By this I know that You are pleased with me, Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me. As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And You set me in Your presence forever.
Psalms 41:9-12 New Century Version (NCV)
My best and truest friend, who ate at my table, has even turned against me. LORD, have mercy on me. Give me strength so I can pay them back. Because my enemies do not defeat me, I know you are pleased with me. Because I am innocent, you support me and will let me be with you forever.
Psalms 41:9-12 American Standard Version (ASV)
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me. But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up, That I may requite them. [John 13:18] ¶But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and restore me [to health], So that I may repay them. Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me. LORD, have mercy on me. Make me well again, so I can pay them back! I know you are pleased with me, for you have not let my enemies triumph over me. You have preserved my life because I am innocent; you have brought me into your presence forever.
Psalms 41:9-12 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Even my ally, my friend, has turned against me. He was one I totally trusted with my life, sharing supper with him, and now he shows me nothing but betrayal and treachery. He has sold me as an enemy. So Lord, please don’t desert me when I need you! Give me grace and get me back on my feet so I can triumph over them all. Then I’ll know you’re pleased with me when you allow me to taste victory over all my foes. Now stand up for me and don’t let me fall, for I’ve walked with integrity. Keep me before your face forever.
