I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together. That is where the tribes go up— the tribes of the LORD— to praise the name of the LORD according to the statute given to Israel. There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a well-built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached. All the tribes of Israel—the LORD’s people— make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the LORD, as the law requires of Israel. Here stand the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David. Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.

I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let’s go to the house of the  LORD.”  Our feet were standing within your gates, Jerusalem   — Jerusalem, built as a city should be, solidly united,  where the tribes, the LORD’s tribes, go up to give thanks to the name of the  LORD.  (This is an ordinance for Israel.  ) There, thrones for judgment are placed, thrones of the house of David.  Pray for the well-being  of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure;  may there be peace within your walls, security within your fortresses.”  Because of my brothers and friends, I will say, “May peace be in you.”  , Because of the house of the  LORD our God, I will pursue your prosperity.

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Our feet shall stand Within thy gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is builded As a city that is compact together: Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, Unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. For there are set thrones of judgment, The thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, And prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.

Jerusalem is built As a city that is compact together, Where the tribes go up, The tribes of the LORD, To the Testimony of Israel, To give thanks to the name of the LORD. For thrones are set there for judgment, The thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

When they said, “Let’s go to the house of GOD,” my heart leaped for joy. And now we’re here, O Jerusalem, inside Jerusalem’s walls! Jerusalem, well-built city, built as a place for worship! The city to which the tribes ascend, all GOD’s tribes go up to worship, To give thanks to the name of GOD— this is what it means to be Israel. Thrones for righteous judgment are set there, famous David-thrones. Pray for Jerusalem’s peace! Prosperity to all you Jerusalem-lovers! Friendly insiders, get along! Hostile outsiders, keep your distance! For the sake of my family and friends, I say it again: live in peace! For the sake of the house of our God, GOD, I’ll do my very best for you.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to the house of the LORD.” Our feet are standing Within your gates, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that has been built As a city that is firmly joined together; To which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD— An ordinance for Israel— To give thanks to the name of the LORD. For thrones were set there for judgment, The thrones of the house of David. ¶Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. “May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” [Is 2:3; Zech 8:21] Our feet are standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is built As a city that is firmly joined together; To which the [twelve] tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD, [As was decreed as] an ordinance for Israel, To give thanks to the name of the LORD. For there the thrones of judgment were set, The thrones of the house of David. ¶Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you [holy city]. “May peace be within your walls And prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God [which is Jerusalem], I will seek your (the city’s) good.

I was glad because they said to me, “We will go to the LORD’s temple.” Our feet are standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a city designed to accommodate an assembly. The tribes go up there, the tribes of the LORD, where it is required that Israel give thanks to the name of the LORD. Indeed, the leaders sit there on thrones and make legal decisions, on the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May those who love her prosper! May there be peace inside your defenses, and prosperity inside your fortresses! For the sake of my brothers and my neighbors I will say, “May there be peace in you!” For the sake of the temple of the LORD our God I will pray for you to prosper.
