Psalms 102:8-12 - Compare All Versions

Psalms 102:8-12 NIV (New International Version)

All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse. For I eat ashes as my food and mingle my drink with tears because of your great wrath, for you have taken me up and thrown me aside. My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass. But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 ESV (English Standard Version 2025)

All the day my enemies taunt me; those who deride me use my name for a curse. For I eat ashes like bread and mingle tears with my drink, because of your indignation and anger; for you have taken me up and thrown me down. My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass. But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 NLT (New Living Translation)

My enemies taunt me day after day. They mock and curse me. I eat ashes for food. My tears run down into my drink because of your anger and wrath. For you have picked me up and thrown me out. My life passes as swiftly as the evening shadows. I am withering away like grass. But you, O LORD, will sit on your throne forever. Your fame will endure to every generation.

Psalms 102:8-12 CSB (Christian Standard Bible)

My enemies taunt me all day long; they ridicule and use my name as a curse.  I eat ashes like bread and mingle my drinks with tears  because of your indignation and wrath; for you have picked me up and thrown me aside.  My days are like a lengthening shadow, and I wither away like grass.  But you, LORD, are enthroned forever;  your fame endures to all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 KJV (King James Version)

Mine enemies reproach me all the day; And they that are mad against me are sworn against me. For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping, Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: For thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. My days are like a shadow that declineth; And I am withered like grass. But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; And thy remembrance unto all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 NKJV (New King James Version)

My enemies reproach me all day long; Those who deride me swear an oath against me. For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping, Because of Your indignation and Your wrath; For You have lifted me up and cast me away. My days are like a shadow that lengthens, And I wither away like grass. But You, O LORD, shall endure forever, And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.

Psalms 102:3-17 MSG (The Message)

I’m wasting away to nothing, I’m burning up with fever. I’m a ghost of my former self, half-consumed already by terminal illness. My jaws ache from gritting my teeth; I’m nothing but skin and bones. I’m like a buzzard in the desert, a crow perched on the rubble. Insomniac, I twitter away, mournful as a sparrow in the gutter. All day long my enemies taunt me, while others just curse. They bring in meals—casseroles of ashes! I draw drink from a barrel of my tears. And all because of your furious anger; you swept me up and threw me out. There’s nothing left of me— a withered weed, swept clean from the path. Yet you, GOD, are sovereign still, always and ever sovereign. You’ll get up from your throne and help Zion— it’s time for compassionate help. Oh, how your servants love this city’s rubble and weep with compassion over its dust! The godless nations will sit up and take notice —see your glory, worship your name— When GOD rebuilds Zion, when he shows up in all his glory, When he attends to the prayer of the wretched. He won’t dismiss their prayer.

Psalms 102:8-12 NASB2020 (New American Standard Bible - NASB)

¶My enemies have taunted me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse. For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mixed my drink with weeping Because of Your indignation and Your wrath; For You have lifted me up and thrown me away. My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass. ¶But You, LORD, remain forever, And Your name remains to all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 AMP (Amplified Bible)

¶My enemies taunt me all day long; Those who ridicule me use my name as a curse. For I have eaten ashes like bread, And have mingled my drink with tears [Is 44:20] Because of Your indignation and Your wrath, For You have lifted me up and thrown me away. My days are like an evening shadow that lengthens and vanishes [with the sun]; And as for me, I wither away like grass. ¶But You, O LORD, are enthroned forever [ruling eternally as sovereign]; And [the fame and glory of] Your name [endures] to all generations.

Psalms 102:8-12 NET (New English Translation)

All day long my enemies taunt me; those who mock me use my name in their curses. For I eat ashes as if they were bread, and mix my drink with my tears, because of your anger and raging fury. Indeed, you pick me up and throw me away. My days are coming to an end, and I am withered like grass. But you, O LORD, rule forever, and your reputation endures.
