He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.

He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.” He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.”

For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the LORD.

He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.”

For they brag about their evil desires; they praise the greedy and curse the LORD.

They think, “Nothing bad will ever happen to us! We will be free of trouble forever!”

For the wicked one boasts about his own cravings;  the one who is greedy curses  and despises the  LORD.

He says to himself, “I will never be moved — from generation to generation I will be without calamity.”

For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, And blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: For I shall never be in adversity.

He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.”

The wicked are windbags, the swindlers have foul breath. The wicked snub GOD, their noses stuck high in the air. Their graffiti are scrawled on the walls: “Catch us if you can!” “God is dead.”

They care nothing for what you think; if you get in their way, they blow you off. They live (they think) a charmed life: “We can’t go wrong. This is our lucky year!”

¶For the wicked boasts of his soul’s desire, And the greedy person curses and shows disrespect to the LORD.

He says to himself, “I will not be moved; Throughout the generations I will not be in adversity.”

¶For the wicked boasts and sings the praises of his heart’s desire, And the greedy man curses and spurns [and even despises] the LORD.

He says to himself, “I will not be moved; For throughout all generations I will not be in adversity [for nothing bad will happen to me].”

Yes, the wicked man boasts because he gets what he wants; the one who robs others curses and rejects the LORD.

He says to himself, “I will never be upended, because I experience no calamity.”
