And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

But if you read the books of the Prophets and God’s Law closely, you will see them culminate in John, teaming up with him in preparing the way for the Messiah of the kingdom. Looked at in this way, John is the ‘Elijah’ you’ve all been expecting to arrive and introduce the Messiah. “Are you listening to me? Really listening?

And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.

And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is [the fulfillment of] Elijah [as the messenger] who was to come [before the kingdom]. [Mal 4:5] He who has ears to hear, let him hear and heed My words.

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come. The one who has ears had better listen!
