A drought on her waters! They will dry up. For it is a land of idols, idols that will go mad with terror. “So desert creatures and hyenas will live there, and there the owl will dwell. It will never again be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation. As I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah along with their neighboring towns,” declares the LORD, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it.

A drought against her waters, that they may be dried up! For it is a land of images, and they are mad over idols. “Therefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon, and ostriches shall dwell in her. She shall never again have people, nor be inhabited for all generations. As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the LORD, so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

A drought will strike her water supply, causing it to dry up. And why? Because the whole land is filled with idols, and the people are madly in love with them. “Soon Babylon will be inhabited by desert animals and hyenas. It will be a home for owls. Never again will people live there; it will lie desolate forever. I will destroy it as I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns,” says the LORD. “No one will live there; no one will inhabit it.

A drought will come on her waters, and they will be dried up. For it is a land of carved images, and they go mad because of terrifying things.  , Therefore, desert creatures  will live with hyenas, and ostriches will also live in her. It will never again be inhabited or lived in through all generations.  Just as God demolished Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns   — this is the  LORD’s declaration — so no one will live there; no human being will stay in it even temporarily as a temporary resident.

A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols. Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

It shall be inhabited no more forever, Nor shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah And their neighbors,” says the LORD, “So no one shall reside there, Nor son of man dwell in it.

“It’s all-out war in Babylon”—GOD’s Decree— “total war against people, leaders, and the wise! War to the death on her boasting pretenders, fools one and all! War to the death on her soldiers, cowards to a man! War to the death on her hired killers, gutless wonders! War to the death on her banks—looted! War to the death on her water supply—drained dry! A land of make-believe gods gone crazy—hobgoblins! The place will be haunted with jackals and scorpions, night-owls and vampire bats. No one will ever live there again. The land will reek with the stench of death. It will join Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, the cities I did away with.” GOD’s Decree. “No one will live there again. No one will again draw breath in that land, ever. * * *

It will never again be inhabited Nor lived in from generation to generation. “As when God overthrew Sodom And Gomorrah with its neighbors,” declares the LORD, “No one will live there, Nor will anyone of mankind reside in it.

“A drought on her waters, and they will dry up! For it is a land of [worthless] idols, And they are mad over fearsome idols [those objects of terror in which they foolishly trust]. ¶“Therefore wild beasts of the desert will live there [in Babylon] with the jackals; The ostriches also will live there, And it will never again be inhabited [with people] Or lived in from generation to generation. [Is 13:20-22] “As when God overthrew Sodom And Gomorrah and their neighboring cities,” says the LORD, “So no man will live there; Nor shall any son of man live there.” [Jer 49:18]

A drought will come upon her land; her rivers and canals will be dried up. All of this will happen because her land is filled with idols. Her people act like madmen because of those idols they fear. Therefore desert creatures and jackals will live there. Ostriches will dwell in it too. But no people will ever live there again. No one will dwell there for all time to come. I will destroy Babylonia just like I did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns. No one will live there. No human being will settle in it,” says the LORD.
